Chartered status: How does that benefit me as a customer?
Many people realise at some stage of their life, whether personal or business related, that they need independent financial advice, but are not sure where to start or which company to use!
When it comes to choosing financial advice, you should always deal with a financial planner who is qualified to the very highest level and who is affiliated with a number of regulatory bodies.
The first point of call is usually to search for someone in your geographical area, but how do you know which firm is the right one when you see the list of names and what actually creates the difference between them?
Choosing a company that has achieved Chartered Financial Planning status from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) for its organisation, and for the individuals that work there, is what will set it apart! With over 100,000 members, the CII is the world’s largest professional body dedicated to the insurance, savings and financial services sector.
Chartered status is the ‘kitemark’ of quality and trust for the financial industry.
Corporate Chartered Status
To achieve corporate Chartered status demonstrates that a firm is truly committed to delivering an overriding level of excellence, knowledge and commitment to its customers, associates and staff and that it is ethical and compliant at all times.
Individual Chartered Status
To receive individual Chartered Financial Planner status, means that the adviser will have completed a minimum of five years’ experience in their field, have passed a minimum of nine professional exams (each requiring up to 50 hours study), and will continuously develop and update their knowledge to remain at the top of their specialism.
As a customer, choosing a firm that has Chartered status will mean that you are being looked after by someone with the highest level of professionalism, reliability and honesty, who will offer sound financial advice centred around your needs and objectives.
Innes Reid has Corporate Chartered Status and three of the seven financial advisers have achieved Chartered Financial Planner Status on an individual basis – the most recent being associate director, James Keane.
Innes Reid has already met the CII 2017 standards (25% of advisers being Chartered) and hopes to exceed the 2020 standards (50%) in June 2016, when two more of their advisers receive their exam results.
